6 TRICKS TO HELP YOU STOP PROCRASTINATING
1. WORK TOWARDS AN AWARD, NOT A DEADLINE
It’s always easier to motivate yourself to do something, when you work towards a reward. So, plan to do something fun once you’ve completed your task. And remember to reward small successes, it’s more motivating than waiting for a big reward in the far distance.
2. MAKE A LIST OF TASKS AND PRIORITISE DAILY
Few things are as satisfying as crossing a job of the list. So, don’t rob yourself of that feeling! Start to write down all tasks and prioritise them in terms of importance. This makes it easier for you to choose what to start with.
3. DO THE MOST DIFFICULT TASK FIRST
When planning your daily schedule, always start with the most difficult thing. In the morning, you have the most energy, and after completing something challenging the rest of the day will feel like a piece of cake!
4. LEAVE TIME FOR THE UNEXPECTED
No matter what you do for a living, things will come up that require quick action. If your schedule is full, this will not allow you to prioritise the unexpected. So, make sure you leave time for things outside of your control.
5. GET A TRUSTEE
Tell someone you trust about your successes and important plans. It will not only motivate you, but also keep you on your toes.
6. CHECK HOW YOU SPEND YOUR TIME
If you procrastinate because you have too much work to do, then check how you spend your time. This will give you an idea of where you lose time and if you’re focusing on the wrong things. Maybe you can outsource these tasks to someone else?
